BEIRUT (AP) — A Lebanese security official says two bullets hit the car of the country’s caretaker defense minister while he was in a convoy near Beirut. No one was hurt. Defense Minister Maurice Sleem confirmed the shooting on Thursday in the Beirut neighborhood of Hazmieh but did not provide further details. The Lebanese official says an investigation was underway to find out if the minister was targeted. In a separate development in the nearby suburb of Ghobeiry, a funeral was held on Thursday for a member of the militant Hezbollah group. He was killed along with another man the previous day when his truck overturned, followed by an attack by gunmen on a mountain road in the Christian town of Kahaleh.
