Cooper County man charged after argument results in shooting

COLUMBIA (KMIZ)

A Boonville man has been charged after he is accused of shooting another person during an argument.

According to court documents, Treveon Coleman shot a victim during an argument on July 16 using a Smith & Wesson M&P .22 Caliber Handgun.

The victim told police that Coleman pointed the gun at them several times before he shot them in the left shoulder.

A Columbia Police officer said in court documents that Coleman told them after Post-Miranda Warning that there was an argument between him and the victim and that they had "wrestled" during it.

Court documents state that Coleman told the officer that a gun "might have been picked up and an accident "might" have happened."

Coleman is charged with domestic assault in the first-degree and third-degree along with armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.

His initial arraignment was scheduled for Friday afternoon according to online court records.

He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.
