Tracking dangerous heat and mostly dry conditions the rest of the week
TONIGHT: Clouds will generally clear overnight, but it won't help temperatures much. Expect warm conditions overnight as we only fall to near 80 degrees by sunrise, thanks to a continued southwest breeze around 5-10 mph.
TOMORROW: Generally drier conditions are in store for tomorrow, with only an isolated storm or two possible, as opposed to today's scattered showers and storms. The bigger story is the heat. The National Weather Service has a heat advisory in place through Friday night. Thursday is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day for heat index values expected in the 105-110 degree window. Heat and humidity will be dangerous to anyone who is outside for a prolonged time. For details on the severity of Thursday's heat, click here.
EXTENDED: Friday continues our Weather Alert Day coverage as we expect another day with heat index values in the 105-110 degree window. Friday will be largely dry, with partly cloudy skies. Saturday, a cold front will approach from the north, and bring a chance at scattered showers and storms. This will have some cooling effect, but dangerous heat is still possible. More details on the front's timing are needed, but Saturday may bring Weather Alert Day type heat again, so prepare to endure dangerous heat at least through Saturday. Confidence in cooler temperatures is higher on Sunday, but highs will still climb into the mid-90s both Sunday and Monday. We may return to low 100's for temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday, and so we'll need to monitor for more extreme heat index values over 105.
