Tracking dangerous heat into second half of week

Today: Afternoon highs warm up to 101 with the heat index reaching 104 degrees. Winds remain out of the southwest a 12-18 mph with gusts up to 36 mph possible. Chances of isolated showers/ storms remain possible.

Tonight: Overnight lows cool to the the upper 70s with winds out of the west at 5-10 mph. Skies remain partly cloudy.

Extended: A Weather Alert Day has been issued Thursday morning lasting through Friday afternoon as heat index values look to surpass 105 degrees each day as the actual highs increase up to 103 degrees. The rest of the week remains dry with chances of isolated showers possible Saturday. Next week starts off hot once again as highs reach into the upper 90s each day.
