Firefighters rescue people from out-of-control boat at the Lake of the Ozarks
OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Osage Beach Fire Protection District is praising two firefighters and jet skiers who helped regain control of a boat Tuesday morning.
According to a Facebook post from the department, firefighters responded to a boat in distress just before noon. The boat was reportedly out of control with people hanging from the side of it.
Two nearby jet skiers carried firefighters closer to the boat. The fire protection district says that one of the firefighters jumped from the jet ski onto the boat and brought it back under control.
No injuries were reported. The fire protection district said the boat and investigation were handed over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
"We would like to give special recognition to firefighters Holden and Douglas who exemplified today the duties of a firefighter and putting strangers above themselves," the Facebook post said. "We are proud to have them on our department and serving the residents of Osage Beach and its visitors. Without the fast response from all, this story could have ended much differently."
The post also went on to ask the public to help identify the jetskiers so the department can properly recognize them.
