RECAP: Mizzou football moves forward from 2022 season

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

SEC Media Days always marks the start of a clean slate for football teams around the Southeastern Conference, as it all kicks off on Monday in Nashville. The Mizzou football team will look to move forward from a 6-7 finish in 2022.

The team made head coach Eli Drinkwitz's third bowl game, however, lost to Wake Forest by 10 points. MU has still not won a bowl game since former head coach Gary Pinkel was at the helm in the 2015 Citrus Bowl.

The 2022 season came with quite a few ups and downs. As far as the good news goes, Mizzou's young talent, namely wide receiver Luther Burden, gained one year of college expereince and the defense, led by Blake Baker, finished a complete turnaround. The bad news was obvious, as the offense struggled to move the chains and the Tigers couldn't always finish in close games.

Coach Eli made some changes in the off season, which he hopes will lead to even more progress in 2023. The goal in every fans' mind is the .500 mark, since Coach Drinkwitz has not made it above that point in his Mizzou career.
