Tracking warming temperatures ahead of strong storms midweek

This Afternoon: Highs reach the upper 90s with the heat index brushing 100 degrees. The UV Index reaches extreme levels with sunburn possible under 15 minutes.

Tonight: Lows fall to the lower 70s as skies remain partly cloudy. Storms will move in from the west near sunrise.

Extended: A Weather Alert Day has been issued for Wednesday lasting through 2 AM Thursday morning as chances of strong to severe storms remain possible. Early Wednesday morning, there is a possibility of showers and storms from a system that will be tracking to our north. Not all will see morning activity, but storms could impact the potential for severe weather late in the day. If there is little in terms of morning rain, strong to severe storms develop after 4 PM lasting throughout the overnight hours. Winds up to 70 mph, hail up to 1" in diameter, and strong downpours remain the main threats.
