Eldon man dies in single-car crash in Miller County

MILLER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man from Eldon died in a single-car crash early Sunday morning.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F responded to a crash Sunday morning that happened at about 5:30 on Vaughn Road just east of Old Tuscumbia Road in Miller County. There was just one car involved in the crash.

Trooper determined the car crossed over the center line, overcorrected and then recrossed and ran off the right side of the road. The car hit a fence and overturned, according to the crash report.

The driver of the car, 50-year-old Jerry Wood, was pronounced dead at the scene. Wood was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the crash report.

This is Troop F's first deadly crash in July and 24th in 2023.
