Tracking showers and storms into Saturday morning

TONIGHT: We've been tracking a wave from the west that brought dying activity to our northwest counties early this afternoon. Now, as I write this around 3 p.m., we are watching it generate new development across the region. Expect chances for showers and storms this evening. An isolated strong storm with small hail and gusty winds is possible, but our severe threat overall appears low. Our strongest storms are expected to develop in this 3-5 window over the middle of the region and push east through the dinner hour. Scattered showers and storms will follow behind this initial redevelopment, but overall remain weaker.

TOMORROW: Showers and storms will slowly exit the region to the south and east through the morning, with most folks north of I-70 seeing little to no rain through the morning. Drier and cooler air will filter in, keeping us in the upper 70s for highs, and dewpoints falling into the 50s. Don't expect a washout from this event, as most of us will see less than a half inch of rain.

EXTENDED: Sunday is looking dry, with a small exception possibly near Truman Lake and Lake of the Ozarks with a passing round of rain to our south. Still, expect dry feeling air. Sunshine and dry air will make it easier for temperatures to climb back into the mid-80s. Winds turn more southerly on Monday, bringing back higher dew points, and temps in the 90s, under mostly sunny skies. More warmth and moisture will work in with continued south flow into the middle of next week, which will partner with upper level disturbances to create daily rain chances through Friday. Much like what we've seen recently, rainfall will likely be sporadic, and selective in where meaningful totals collect.
