Columbia nonprofit to host Veteran Resource Fair

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture on Friday will host a Veterans Resource Fair at Columbia's Agriculture Park under the MU Health Care Pavilion located at 1769 W. Ash Street.

The event is scheduled to take place from 5-7 p.m. and will be free to all attending.

The event is focused on helping veterans. Organizers say the fair will feature a range of organizations that provide resources to veterans and their families.

Organizations expected to attend Friday's fair include Veterans United, Truman VA, MO Veterans Commission, Heroes to Hives and Welcome Home.

In addition, Job Point and Missouri Workforce Development are organizations also expected to be in attendance and will be looking to hire more veteran employees.

The Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture also has a partnership with the Veterans Urban Farm and the Truman VA Hospital.

According to organizers, the program was established in 2020 to serve patients in the Truman VA’s Transitional Work, Recreational Therapy and Whole Health programs. All food grown at the farm is donated to local veterans and hunger relief organizations
