Sunday Sit-down with Stephens College assistant AD/basketball coach Andre Bell

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

ABC 17's Chanel Porter brought on Stephens College assistant athletic director and head basketball coach Andre Bell, in this week's edition of Sunday Sit-down.

Bell has spent two seasons as the basketball coach at Stephens leading the Stars to their most successful record in school history. Bell was also promoted in March as the assistant athletic director.

"I think we have a great energy going over the last couple of years and what can we do to keep that momentum going?," Bell said. "I think it's very important when you go to an athletics program, there's a thing called consistency. So, how consistent can we be, whether it's winning, whether it's culture, so what can we do to continually add on to what we've already done, and continue to grow."

With the success last season, that has not slowed Bell down, this offseason he managed to draw a lot of attention from athletes.

"In recruiting this year, we added 10 new players," Bell said. "We added a couple of Division One transfers, we added a couple Division Two transfers, went back to the JUCO route and I think we got four of the best freshmen, you know in different states and I'm really excited about this group."

Well Bell focuses on his basketball team, he's also apart of other decisions in the athletic department. During the offseason, Stephens hired a new volleyball coach and new soccer coach. Former Rock Bridge volleyball coach Trevor Koelling will be taking over for the Stars this upcoming season.

"He was just one of those guys when we talked to him in an interview, he just lit the room up," Bell said. "Right after we got done, players talked to them and they were just like, coach that's a guy that we got to have."
