Cardinals get blanked in series finale loss to Astros

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIS)

The St. Louis Cardinals got shut out at Busch Stadium in Thursday's series finale against the Astros 14-0. Houston claims the series 2-1.

Adam Wainwright marked career start number 400 Thursday, but only pitched about two innings before bring pulled after allowing six runs. Jake Woodford and Alec Buleson also spent time in the circle both allowing four runs each.

At the plate, the only bright spot was rookie Jordan Walker who extended his hitting streak to 17 straight games going 1-for-2. Other than that, the Cardinals totaled just four hits on the day.

At the midway point in the season, St. Louis sits in last place in the NL Central division with a 33-47 record, 9.5 games out of first place.

Up next, the Cardinals stay at home for a three-game series with the Yankees. Game one will be Friday at 7:15 p.m.
