Tracking a warm up into weekend storm chances

TONIGHT: Skies this afternoon have been bright, with some high clouds overhead. These will subside overnight, but some clouds from our northeast will drift into the region by sunrise leaving us partly cloudy to start Wednesday. Temperatures will fall into the low 60s and upper 50s by sunrise.

TOMORROW: Wednesday's sky will keep some influence from the aforementioned cloud cover, keeping partly cloudy skies in the forecast through the day. With continued southwest winds at the surface, temperatures climb into the upper 80s. A wave looks to generate showers and storms in central and eastern Kansas Wednesday morning. These will drift near our southwest counties by the afternoon. The environment should guide these mostly south of mid-Missouri, but whatever rain does fall near Warsaw and the lake area, will be fighting some very dry air at the surface reducing rainfall totals. Otherwise, it's a hot and mostly dry day under partly cloudy skies.

EXTENDED: Sunnier skies arrive on Thursday, helping warm us to near 90. Humidity is manageable on Thursday, but it increases on Friday, where we'll be just about as warm and watching for more thunderstorm chances. Rain is mostly likely in the evening on Friday, but will be more likely through the day on Saturday and Sunday. This will likely keep temperatures slightly cooler, especially on Sunday. Drier weather is forecast for Monday and Tuesday, allowing temperatures to remain near 90.
