Tracking slim rain chances overnight and a dry start to the weekend

TONIGHT: Isolated to scattered thunderstorms this evening will persist overnight, especially along and southwest of a line from Brunswick to Vienna. This line is about as far as our cold front that is bringing these storms can advance overnight. Temperatures where rain lingers will remain in the mid-60s, but those behind the front in the northeast will feel cooler air as temps fall into the 50s.

TOMORROW: The cold front pushes farther southwest, driving rain out of the region for the majority of the day. Only a few morning showers are expected on Thursday, while most remain dry. Temperatures will be a bit cooler on Thursday, stuck in the low 80s.

EXTENDED: We climb into mid-80s on Saturday under abundant sunshine. Adding some south flow on Saturday will pump temps into the upper 80s and bring enough moisture for evening thunderstorms. This will be compounded by a cold front on Sunday. The front will drop in from the north, bringing widespread rain. This may bring another half an inch to an inch of rain for some. It will also keep us in the 70s for highs on Sunday, and leave us sunny and near 80 on Monday. We'll pick up more thunderstorm chances by the middle of next week.
