Mizzou baseball falls in first round of SEC Tournament

The Mizzou baseball team could not find a way to hold off the Auburn bats in a 10-4 loss in the first round of the conference tournament on Tuesday night. It was MU's first SEC Tournament appearance since 2019.

The Columbia-based Tigers got off to a solid start in the loss, as an error and a few walks plated Ross Lovich to go up 1-0 in the second inning. Auburn responded with a three-run rally in the third to take the lead, however, MU had an answer, yet again, with a three-run inning of their own to take back a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning.

Auburn had the last word in the bottom of the fourth, going up by three runs and never looking back.

Mizzou pitcher Jayvn Pimenal lasted just three innings in the opening game of the tournament. He allowed four earned runs on three hits, along with three strikeouts. Head coach Steve Bieser went through five, different pitchers in relief, but no one in the bullpen had the answer for the Auburn attack.

Brock Lucas is charged with the loss on the bump after less than an inning of work. He allowed three runs on two hits.

Offensively, MU got out-hit 11-6. Battle alum Tre Morris, Ross Lovich and Hickman Cam Chick were the lone hitters to register an RBI for the Tigers in the loss.

Bieser and company finished the season 30-24 overall and 10-21 in the SEC.
