William Woods making additions of football and women’s flag football teams

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

After 153 years, William Woods University is adding a football and women's flag football team to its athletic programs.

The Owls will have their first season of men's intercollegiate football in the fall of 2024 followed by women's flag football for the 2025 season.

National searches for both head coaches are underway, plus the university says recruitment for both new sports will begin immediately.

The addition of football at William Woods is a groundbreaking investment in the future of our University, one that typifies the remarkable growth and vitality of our institution," said President Dr. Jeremy Moreland.

Both the football teams will play on campus at the current home for the men's and women's soccer teams, which the university will be adding turf to in the Spring of 2024.
