Mizzou Athletics hires Senior Associate AD to provide oversight for football program
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou Athletics Director Desiree Reed-Francois announced that MU has hired athletics administration veteran Marcy Girton as a senior association athletics director for football administration and special projects.
Girton will provide administrative oversight to the Tiger football team, in addition to handling any special projects within the athletic department.
"There's palpable excitement and momentum surrounding the upward trajectory of the Department and it is a great time to be a Tiger," Girton said in a press release on Friday. "Desireé is a phenomenal leader and I look forward to contributing to enhancing the outstanding efforts already under way."
She brings more than 30 year years of expereince in college athletics into the role, as she most recently worked as a senior advisor for Collegiate Sports Associates', which is a search and consulting practice. Half of her 30 years in athletics came in the Southeastern Conference. Girton worked as the Chief Operating Officer at both Auburn and South Carolina. She also served as a football sports administrator at both Texas A&M and Auburn.
"We were looking for a highly respected leader with a track record of excellence for this new position, and Marcy stood out during the search process," Reed-Francois said in a press release. "Her previous experience in the SEC, working with coaches, familiarity with NIL and work at all levels of college athletics, along with her unique perspective of being a former student-athlete and coach, makes her the ideal person to provide a high level of support for our football program and Department as a whole."
