Tracking rain Friday before a dry and mild weekend
TODAY: Light scattered rainfall will pass through the region along a cold front today. For most of us, the front brings minimal rainfall. Widespread totals are expected at less than a quarter of an inch. Some from Warsaw to Owensville will have a chance at more, with the development of thunderstorms that are capable of better rain rates this afternoon. No severe weather is anticipated. Rain has already entered the region this morning, and will linger into the dinner hour. Those north of a line from Sedalia to Mexico will be dry by 7 p.m., with rain hanging on a bit longer to the south. Expect the cold front to limit temperatures by location. The earlier you see rain, the cooler you will be today. Columbia should reach low 70s, before the front passes.
TONIGHT: We're all drying out overnight. Skies clear by sunrise, and northerly winds pull in cooler air, dropping temperatures to near 50 by sunrise.
EXTENDED: Saturday is cool and dry, with a high temperature of mid-70s, a dew point in the 40s, and sunny skies. Temperatures warm into the upper 70s on Sunday, with more sun. A slow temperature climb starts and carries us into the low 80s by Monday, mid-80s by Tuesday, and upper 80s by Thursday, with sunshine all along the way. The extended pattern looks mostly dry, but slim rain chances start to pop up Wednesday and Thursday.
