Mizzou softball falls to Alabama in second round of SEC tournament

FAYETTEVILLE, Ar. (KMIZ)

After an opening round win over Mississippi State, Mizzou softball's play in the SEC tournament has come to an end with a 7-2 loss Wednesday night against Alabama.

The game was on a five-hour weather delay in Fayetteville, and after the delay, it was the Crimson Tide that got the early momentum. Jordan Weber started on the mound for the Tigers giving up a solo home run in the first inning and three more scores in the second.

Laurin Krings threw three innings allowing three runs on four hits, plus freshman Cierra Harrison came in to pitch a scoreless sixth inning.

The Crimson Tide only managed to get one more hit in the outing than Mizzou, but Montana Fouts didn't let them string much together compiling 10 strikeouts.

Alex Honnold and Kara Daly both went 1-for-3 on the day with an RBI each, plus Jenna Laird went 2-for-4 with the Tigers only extra base hit of the evening.

With the loss, Mizzou sits at 34-24 on the season and 7-18 in SEC games. The Tigers will now await the NCAA selection show on Sunday at 6 p.m.
