Tracking rain and a few storms on Thursday, slightly cooler temperatures

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with an isolated shower or storm. Lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and a few storms. Highs in the upper 70s.

EXTENDED: A warm front slowly lifts through the area between Thursday and Friday, bringing the potential for scattered showers tomorrow along with a few rumbles of thunder. As the front settles to our north on Friday, there could be isolated storms develop in the afternoon. If storms can break through a shallow layer of warmer air just above the surface, a couple of these could become strong with isolated large hail and brief gusty winds. There will be a lack of a driving force for storms or sufficient wind shear for widespread severe weather, so a Weather Alert Day is not anticipated at this time. Scattered showers and storms are possible on Saturday ahead of a cold front, but before that front arrives temperatures manage to make it to the upper 80s. We'll see a better chance at more rain on Sunday with the passage of the cold front, allowing highs to drop to around 80. Next week starts off slightly cooler as upper winds try to shift back to the northwest, with forecast high temperatures in the 70s starting Monday.
