Tracking isolated severe storms from The Lake of the Ozarks to Rolla this evening
TODAY: Monday is a Weather Alert Day. After early morning storms that brought isolated wind gusts, possibly small hail, much needed heavy rainfall, and a lot of lightning and thunder, another round is possible this evening. Isolated storms will develop south of HWY 50 around 5-7 p.m. These storms will have potential for large hail, damaging winds, and while a tornado is not likely, it's possible. Expect a high in the low-to-mid 80s near I-70, with high 70s near Macon, and mid-to-high 80s near The Lake of the Ozarks to Hermann and southward. A cold front will be the dividing line and will separate cooler air with north winds from heat and evening storms. Get the details on our Weather Alert Day here.
TONIGHT: Storms will develop around the dinner hour in the south, and push south along a cold front overnight. The cooler air sets in with high pressure overnight, dropping temperatures into the 50s by sunrise Tuesday.
EXTENDED: Tuesday is partly cloudy and mostly dry. Some chance for evening storms looks possible near Warsaw and the Truman Lake area. Expect highs near 80. South winds return on Wednesday, climbing temperatures a bit, and returning a better chance for rain, but still mostly in the west near Pettis, Saline, and Benton counties. Widespread rain chances return Thursday and linger through Saturday, with daily highs in the mid-80s. Severe chances are low at the moment, with the scattered thunderstorms forecast.
