Ole Miss avoids sweep vs. Mizzou in high-scoring finale at Taylor Stadium
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
After clinching the series victory on Friday, Mizzou fell short of the sweep on Saturday in a high-scoring game against Ole Miss. The Rebels claimed the finale 20-14.
The two teams combined for 31 total hits on the day and 34 runs. The leading force at the plate for Mizzou came from Luke Mann and Hank Zeisler both with home runs to bring in four runs each. Ty Wilsmeyer also had three hits and brought in two runs for the Tigers.
The biggest issue for MU came in the circle. With errorless defense behind six different MU pitchers, the Rebels had an answer for all of them.
Freshman Logan Lunceford took the loss on the hill throwing nearly four innings allowing four hits and six runs. Zach Franklin gave up five runs on the hill, plus Rorik Maltrud and Austin Troesser both gave up four.
Calvin Harris had a huge day for Ole Miss going 4-for-6 with 10 total RBI's.
Mizzou is now 27-20 on the season and 7-17 in the SEC. This marks the second conference series that the Tigers have won this season.
Up next, the home stand continues as the Tigers host Georgia in a three-game series next weekend. Game one is set for Friday at 6 p.m.
