Mizzou clinches series over Ole Miss in run-rule fashion

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou baseball team clinches the SEC series over the defending national champs Ole Miss with a run-rule performance Friday, downing the Rebels 13-3.

MU got off to an early 2-0 lead with a two-run home run from Luke Mann in the first inning and never lost the lead from there. The Tigers scored six runs in the fourth and four more in the sixth to end the game with a ten run-rule in the seventh inning.

As a team, the Tigers hit four home runs on the night after hitting five in Thursday's opener. Hank Zeisler led the team with three RBI's, plus Luke Mann, Trevor Austin and Cam Chick both plated two of their own.

Javyn Pimental got the win on the mound throwing four scoreless innings and recording three strikeouts.

MU is now 27-19 on the season and 7-16 in conference games. The series win marks just the second SEC series that the Tigers have taken all season, the last coming in March against No. 4 Tennessee.

Game three of the series will be Saturday at 2 p.m.
