Tracking afternoon scattered showers before a warmer weekend
Today: Afternoon highs warm into the upper 70s as scattered showers make their way into southwestern portions of Central Missouri after 3 pm. Areas such as the Lake of the Ozarks region will see scattered showers throughout the afternoon and early evening hours.
Tonight: Overnight lows cool to the mid-50s as a few spotty showers roll through Mid-Missouri. Scattered showers and storms make their way back into Mid-Missouri from the west after 4 am.
Extended: scattered showers and thunderstorms continue until early Friday afternoon as highs only reach near 70 degrees Friday as cloud cover and rain stunts much of a warm-up. Saturday morning could see a few scattered showers before clearing by late morning. Temperatures warm into the mid-80s this weekend. A chance for a few isolated strong to severe storms are possible late Saturday night if the environment can overcome a CAP. A CAP acts as a warm layer in the atmosphere that stunts storm development. If this CAP holds little to no storms will develop. If this CAP erodes, then these isolated storms will take place in northeastern portions of Central Missouri. Heading into Sunday and next week chances of scattered showers and storms are possible each day with highs remaining into the mid-80s.
