Assistant St. Louis prosecutor dies in car crash

ST. LOUIS (AP) — An assistant prosecutor in the office of St. Louis Circuit Attorney died when his car was involved in a fiery crash on an interstate highway. Thirty-two-year-old James Heitman died following the accident that happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday in St. Louis County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says vehicles had stopped for traffic  on Interstate 270. Heitman’s Toyota Camry switched lanes, unaware traffic had stopped. The Camry hit the car in front of it, setting of an accident involving four vehicles. He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later. St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner says she is “shocked and saddened” by Heitman’s death.
