JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Gilbert Silvey, Jr. was found guilty last week of several child-sex crimes, according to a Wednesday press release from the Attorney General’s Office

On Friday afternoon, a Morgan County jury found Silvey guilty of first-degree statutory rape, two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy, second-degree statutory rape, two counts of second-degree statutory sodomy and six counts of incest.

A sentencing hearing is set for 1 p.m. Monday, July 10 in Morgan County, according to the release.

The Attorney General’s Office was appointed to prosecute the Silvey case after a conflict arose for the Morgan County Prosecutor’s Office, according to the press release.

In 2009, Silvey was convicted of first-degree child molestation and was sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections, and returned home in March 2013. He began abusing the 10-year-old victim shortly after being released.
