Callaway County man charged with child-sex crimes

HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man was arrested Friday and charged with several child-sex crimes.

Charles Beavers, 24, is charged with second-degree statutory rape, three counts of second-degree statutory sodomy and tampering with a victim in a felony prosecution. He is being held on a $50,000 bond at the Callaway County Jail.

Beavers appeared in court Tuesday via video from the jail. A counsel status hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday.

On Wednesday, April 19, the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office received a Hotline report that a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by Beavers, according to the probable cause statement. On Friday, the victim allegedly said in a forensic interview that the assault allegedly occurred on April 12.

Law enforcement interviewed Beavers on Friday, where he initially denied having sexual contact with the victim. He then allegedly admitted to several acts, according to the probable cause statement.
