The St. Louis Cardinals couldn't secure a series win against the Seattle Mariners, but the birds did avoid taking a sweep with a 7-3 win on Sunday.

He earned the win to improved to 2-2 overall. Before Sunday's game, no other pitcher, except Jordan Montgomery, had had a real, quality start for STL.

Lars Nootbar started off the scoring for the Cardinals, lifting up a home run in the first inning. Nolan Gorman and Paul DeJong both hit home runs, as well. DeJong had three hits, total, in his return to the St. Louis clubhouse.

Up next - the Cardinals will head to San Francisco to meet the Giants on Monday, April 24. First pitch is at 8:45 p.m.
