Tracking a cold Sunday morning ahead of an overall cool week

TODAY: Bitterly cold this morning, the entire region is under a freeze warning this morning. With clear skies at sunrise through sunset, sunshine will warm us into the mid-50s for highs. Calmer winds will also help us to stay well warmer than Saturday.

TONIGHT: Skies will stay clear tonight, and winds remain relatively calm, allowing for a deep temperature dive again into early Monday morning. For this, the majority of the region is in a Frost Advisory, with our eastern most counties in a Freeze Warning.

EXTENDED: Monday looks well warmer by the afternoon, with south winds and morning sunshine bringing temperatures into the 60s. Afternoon clouds will precede rain chances that arrive by early morning hours on Tuesday. A system is passing by to our south on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing rain chances both days. It's still unclear exactly how rain chances evolve from Tuesday through Wednesday, with guidance still disagreeing on rain chances each day, so they will stand in almost equal quantities for each day for now. Thursday looks like the mostly dry day, with only a slim chance for morning showers, while Friday looks like a better bet for rain with models in agreement about a disturbance swinging in from the north. Still signs for severe weather in the forecast, and I'd be surprised to hear much thunder with activity this week. Part of this can be attributed to the mild temperatures, with 60s in the forecast the rest of the 7 days beyond today.
