Tracking cold air that settles in for the weekend

TODAY: Saturday is set to be a dreary one, with highs in the 40s and plentiful cloud cover for much of the day. We will start with a sunrise, and temperatures in the 30s, making for a bright and crisp morning. Low clouds will drift in from the north by late morning. By the afternoon, these have settled over most of mid-Missouri, and may even bring some drizzle, especially north of I-70.

TONIGHT: Clouds will retreat northeast after sunset. This, and a light breeze from the northwest will be enough to get temperatures down below freezing for most early Sunday morning.

EXTENDED: Freeze warnings and watches are in place across the region for early Sunday. Sunday afternoon, temperatures will climb into the 50s once again, under more sunshine. Monday starts sunny, but ends cloudy, with a high in the 60s. These clouds precede a chance for rain on Tuesday. We'll stay on the northern side of the system on Tuesday, which keeps best rain chances in the south. Temperatures stay in the low 60s Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain exits on Wednesday, and chances for rain are slim Thursday, but a better chance shows up on Friday.
