Mizzou takes down Missouri State in walk-off fashion
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou baseball team remained unbeaten against Missouri State on Tuesday night, with a 7-6 walk-off win. The victory came off the bat of Dylan Leach, who hit an RBI single in the ninth inning.
The Bears and the Tigers had multiple lead changes and ties throughout the course of the game, but head coach Steve Bieser's group ended up extending their non-conference win streak to six games.
Early on, MU and Missouri State were tied up at one run apiece, but the Bears hit a two-run home run to put the Tigers in a 3-1 hole.
In the fourth inning, Mizzou worked out of that hole. Leach hit a two-run homer to tie the game up and then the next batter, Carlos Pena, hit a solo home run to give the Tigers the lead. That homer was Pena's first of the season.
The two teams traded punches throughout, but MU did got into the ninth inning down by one. Leach capped off a strong night at the plate by sending in the winning run.
Zach Franklin earned the win on the hill for the Tigers. He went one inning with no runs allowed and one strikeout. Logan Lunceford had the start for MU, but he allowed three runs on five hits.
