Tracking warmer temperatures, storm chances the rest of the week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with lows in the lower 40s.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny with a chance of a hit or miss shower or storm. Highs in the mid-upper 70s.

EXTENDED: A warm front is expected to lift north across Mid-Missouri on Tuesday, increasing temperatures into the 70s. Clouds and a few spotty showers or storms are possible, but most areas stay dry. Wednesday will bring gusty south winds, sending temperatures to near 80 degrees. A few spot storms are possible during the day, but we'll see a higher chance Wednesday night near the warm front across northern Missouri. As a cold front moves in on Thursday, showers and storms are likely to start the day. Depending on the timing of the front, we may see another round fire up in the afternoon or evening that could become strong if the front progresses slowly through the state. The boundary settles to our south, and another disturbance rides up along the front as low level winds increase into Friday. That will bring a chance of rain on Friday and Friday night with cooler temperatures around 60. Showers clear out by midday Saturday, leaving us with highs in the lower 50s. Saturday night could end up bringing widespread frost to Mid-Missouri if clouds clear out quickly enough, so keep that in mind if you have sensitive plants in your yard. Rain amounts for the week will be around 1-1.5".
