Tracking brief dry time early this week before more showers and storms

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny skies and a high of 65. Winds will still be blowing strong at 15-20 mph from the NW, with gusts of up to 35 mph.

TONIGHT: Winds calm down significantly, to about 5-10 mph from the NW. Temperatures drop into the low 40s.

EXTENDED: Rain returns to the forecast starting late Tuesday as a warm front lifts across the area. If this can bring enough moisture through dry air, scattered afternoon showers, and a few thunderstorms are possible. The same scenario is possible on Wednesday, with both days seeing highs in the 70s. We have a greater chance for stronger storms Thursday as a cold front is set to move through the area. As of now, timing is in the morning or earlier afternoon, with possible activity ahead of the front, which limits some severe potential. Still, much could change with this system so stay tuned for updates.
