Cardinals manage a series tie with walk-off win
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)
The bat of Tommy Edman saved the Cardinals from a series loss to the Pirates on Sunday afternoon. Edman hit a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning to take down the Pittsburgh Pirates and end the series in a 2-2 tie.
Heading into the bottom of the 10th inning, St. Louis trailed Pittsburgh 4-3. However, Nolan Gorman drove in Paul Goldschmidt with a game-tying double to get STL back in it, then, with the base juiced and a chance to walk it off, Edman hit the winning RBI single through center field.
The game winner marks Edman's third walk-off hit of his career. He went 2-for-5, overall, on the day. His hit actually put an end to an 0-for-15 skid with runners in scoring position.
With the win on Sunday, St. Louis improved to 7-9 on the season.
Up next - the Cardinals will continue its home stand with a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. First pitch in the opener is set for 6:45 p.m. on Monday, April 17.
