Sunday Sit-down with Rock M Nation’s Karen Steger

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

ABC 17's Chanel Porter brought on the Rock M Nation's lead editor Karen Steger in this week's edition of Sunday Sit-down.

The two first talked about the historic finish that Mizzou gymnastics had this season. Although the group fell short of a trip to the NCAA Championships, they did end the year with their best ever regional score.

"It just seems like they just keep going up and up every year," Steger said. "Who would have thought that Mizzou gymnastics would be like a destination for people to go because they see how great it's going."

Steger pointed out the young talent that the Tigers have with gymnasts like Jocelyn Moore and Amari Celestine, but she said another key part of the Mizzou rotation is coming back with fifth-year season Sienna Schreiber.

"She was one of the only ones that consistently did the all-around competition for Mizzou, so having her come back, I think is going to be huge," Steger said. "There's just a lot to be hopeful for, for the future with all of these returners."

Steger also follows the Mizzou softball team closely and with the group coming off of a series loss at LSU, they sit at 3-12 in the SEC.

"I think that the hardest part of the conference season is probably over at this point," Steger said. "It's hard to beat a Montana Fouts and Maddie Penta. I do think it's going to get a little bit lighter in the schedule for them and if they can beat all of the out of conference opponents that they have left and then pick up maybe a sweep of Ole Miss this coming weekend, then I think that they can get back into it."
