Family could get $1.25 million in wrongful death settlement
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Charles Waddill and Access Percussion, LLC could pay $1.25 million in a wrongful death settlement filed by Timothy Wilson's children.
Waddill, who was working for Access Percussion at the time of a deadly crash, allegedly left the scene of the crash that killed Wilson in the 1400 block of Rangeline Street in June.
Waddill was accused of speeding in addition to driving drunk when he hit a pedestrian on June 29, court documents said. He allegedly washed or attempted to wash blood from his vehicle in an effort to get rid of evidence.
Waddill contacted the Columbia Police Department after the crash, according to court documents. He told police he was in the area at the time of the crash, and the 2011 Subaru Tribeca seen at the crash was found at Waddill’s home.
The damage to the vehicle matched evidence located at the scene of the crash, court documents said.
The wrongful death settlement was still pending approval on Saturday. If approved, it would also release claims against Waddill and Access Percussion.
"I believe the family is satisfied with the outcome of the resolution of this matter with Mr. Waddill and his insurance carriers," Â said Matt Woods, an attorney for Wilson's family.
Waddill was indicted in October on charges including driving while intoxicated, involuntary manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash and felony evidence tampering.
His jury trial is scheduled for March.
