No. 16 Kentucky completes sweep against Mizzou baseball
LEXINGTON, Ky. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou baseball team couldn't get the bats going in a 3-1 loss to No. 16 Kentucky on Sunday. With the win, the Wildcats completed a three-game sweep against MU.
Sunday's loss was the most competitive game of the series, as Kentucky had beaten Mizzou by at least 10 runs in the first two games in Lexington.
The game remained scoreless until the third inning, when Kentucky plated the game's firsts run on a two-out single and a pair of Mizzou errors.
The Tigers did answer in the fifth inning. Helias alum Trevor Austin sent in a run with a single to right field, but MU had just five hits on the day. That was not enough to respond to a Kentucky's go-ahead run at the bottom of the frame to take back the lead.
Chandler Murphy took the loss for MU on the bump on Sunday. He pitched six innings with two strikeouts and two runs allowed.
Up next - Mizzou will return home from a nine-game home swing to host Vanderbilt on Thursday, April 6. First pitch is scheduled fo 6 p.m.
