No. 13 Alabama blanks Mizzou in extras despite standout performance from Laurin Krings
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The No. 13 Alabama Crimson Tide secured the series win against Mizzou in a 4-0 win in nine innings on Saturday night in Columbia. The Tiger loss comes despite a standout performance from junior pitcher Laurin Krings.
Krings held off the Alabama bats for eight innings of action. She ended her day in the ninth inning with six strikeouts and just one run allowed on nine hits. The one Alabama score was a solo home run, but all of those eight other hits were singles. Throughout most of the game, MU put up a solid defensive performance.
After Krings gave up that home run and hit a batter, head coach Larissa Anderson put in Megan Schumacher to wrap this one up for the Tigers. She allowed three more runs for the Crimson Tide.
Mizzou tallied five hits in the loss. Anderson's group even had an opportunity to walk it off with two on board in the seventh inning, but Alabama ace Montana Fouts was too much to handle. She had 14 strikeouts and no runs allowed through all nine innings.
Up next - Mizzou and No. 13 Alabama will wrap up the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
