Royals shut out in Opening Day against the Twins

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals start the 2023 season with a shut-out loss falling 2-0 to the Twins on Opening Day.

KC struggled to get the bats going putting together just two total hits on the day and recording 10 strikeouts. Salvador Perez and Kyle Isbel each had a hit in the opener.

On the mound, the Royals were led by veteran Zack Greinke who pitched just over five innings allowing two runs on six hits and recording four strikeouts. Four other members of the pitching staff also saw time on the mound. Juan Cuas recorded three K's in one inning.

Kanas City starts the season 0-1 and will continue the three-game series with Minnesota at home Saturday at 3:10 p.m.
