Tracking showers and thunderstorms Wednesday

TODAY: Showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Thursday. Light showers will develop early this morning, primarily for those near Marshall, Booneville, Columbia and folks northward. Spotty shower activity will be possible farther south, but the best coverage should come north of I-70. This round of rain will come to an end around mid-to-late morning, before out next round arrives in the afternoon. A cold front will push a line of showers and storms across the region from mid afternoon to early evening. No severe weather is expected, but lightning and thunder may accompany these storms.

TONIGHT: Rain will linger until after midnight, when a few snow flakes will try to mix in at the end of the rain. No meaningful accumulations are expected, but a covering of some elevated surfaces could be possible, even if unlikely. Temperatures are noticeably colder, dropping into the mid-20s.

EXTENDED: After picking up anywhere between a quarter to a half of an inch of rain, we're dry on Thursday. Dry and COLD, as temperatures struggle to climb into the 40s. Sunshine sticks around through the weekend, with highs forecast in the 30s. Warmer air arrives Sunday via south winds under sunny skies. We'll kick off the week with a high in the 50s on Monday, and carry that warmth through Wednesday, where we pick up our next chance of rain.
