New PGA Tour schedule still about good golf, Monahan says

By DOUG FERGUSON

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Commissioner Jay Monahan doesn’t believe the new PGA Tour model is just like the Saudi-funded LIV Golf. He spoke for the first time since the tour announced big changes that focus on bringing the top stars together in no-cut events. He says players who have access to those events will have earned it through good play. And he says everyone with a PGA Tour card will have that chance. His comments followed a player-only meeting to discuss the changes. Rory McIlroy says the final version was nothing like how it started when players first began to meet in Delaware.
