Tracking a cool and wet pattern

TODAY: Tuesday is noticeably cooler than Monday, with a north breeze. Temperatures start in the 30s, and climb into the low 50s. This puts us near our average high temperature for this time of the year. Skies are partly cloudy to start the day, but clouds will increase in coverage through the day. By the afternoon, we'll be watching some light showers try to bring rain to the lake area. Dry air will resist these showers at first, but rain is expected to reach the ground later in the afternoon for folks near the lake. Timing has rain falling near the lake around 5-8 p.m., working northeast to Columbia by 8-10 p.m., and near Macon and Paris by 10 p.m. to midnight.

TONIGHT: Showers will be off and on through the night, starting to taper off by Wednesday morning. Temperatures fall into the upper 30s, with a light east breeze.

EXTENDED: Showers are light and spotty on Wednesday. Still, expect plenty of dry time between showers, and perhaps a mostly dry day with highs reaching mid-40s. We'll see highs in the 40s again on Thursday, with widespread rain and some thunder moving through the region. Rain will exit by Friday, with partly cloudy skies and a high in the upper 40s remaining. It's beginning to look like we'll start Saturday dry, with a chance for rain arriving in the evening, and lasting into Sunday. We're in the upper-40s Saturday evening, but a fall into the upper-30s will bring the possibility of a light mix into the forecast. We'll keep temperatures near or just below average through early next week.
