Tracking a mild start to the week, rain and cooler temperatures returning

TONIGHT: Mostly clear to partly cloudy with lows in the low to mid-50s. Breezy with gusts between 20-25 mph.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 60s to around 70. Some areas may cool down from north to south as a cold front works through during the late afternoon.

EXTENDED: We're in for a mild start to the week with temperatures reaching the upper 60s to around 70 on Monday as gusty southwest winds prevail, but a cold front moving through during the day could keep temperatures from reaching 70 depending on how quickly it slides south. Cooler air moves in behind the front on Monday night, with lows falling back into the upper 30s to low 40s. The pattern becomes more active with chilly air sticking around for most of the week. Highs on Tuesday only reach the low 50s, with showers returning late as a disturbance moves through Tuesday night into Wednesday. Showers continue into Wednesday and Thursday as low pressure slowly skirts by to our south, with precipitation exiting by Friday morning. The coldest air looks to stay to our north, but any shift southward in the track of low pressure could introduce a chance for a rain/snow mix, generally across northern Missouri. Highs only reach the 40s from Wednesday through Friday. Temperatures remain below average into next weekend with highs in the mid-40s with the potential of active weather between next Sunday and Monday.
