Heavy rain and wintry weather possible late this week
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly. Lows in the upper 20s to around 30.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 40s.
EXTENDED: Two waves of precipitation will make their way through Mid-Missouri by late week. Southwest upper level flow will bring more moisture back into the region from the Gulf of Mexico, allowing for rain to start moving into Mid-Missouri. Thursday is the warmest day of the week with gusty winds and highs getting into the upper 50s to near 60. Showers begin late on Thursday and continue into Friday, becoming more widespread. A cold font will cut across the state on Friday, bringing colder air in for the weekend. As this cold air sets in, precipitation will change from rain to a wintry mix from north to south. Overnight into Saturday, the precipitation type is expected to dominantly be snow. Timing of the cold air and placement of the low pressure will be big factors in determining snow amounts as the week wears on. Stay with ABC 17 Stormtrack weather as the situation unfolds.
