Tracking the end of rain, and a dry weekend

TODAY: Rain is moving through the region this morning, with temperatures cold, but not cold enough for snow; at least not to any meaningful extent. As rain continues to push northeast, and we see showers move through our coldest communities this morning, we may see a few snowflakes mix in with the rain. The best chance of this would be near Brunswick and Macon. This is not going to be the snow we would need to accumulate, especially with warm ground temperatures. Rain so far this morning has been weak for folks near I-70, meaning those to the north will likely experience this to an even greater extent. Bottom line is, folks north of Jefferson city will end up with much less rain than initially anticipated (likely less than an inch)This is likely a combination of factors including track and dry air, but totals so far this morning have been impressive for folks south and especially southeast of Jefferson City. Additionally, winds will be strong through the day, even gusty at times as high as 40-50 mph in our eastern most counties.

TONIGHT: This rain dries up by mid-afternoon, and earlier than that for those in the west. We should all see a sunset tonight as skies clear in time for the dinner hour.

EXTENDED: Waking up in the 30s on Saturday morning, we'll have a ways to go, but we'll get there. Temps are forecast near average, in the low 50s by the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Things warm significantly by Sunday, with 60s forecast under more sunshine. The day of choice is Monday, with temperatures in the upper 60s, if not 70s! While the week starts easy and warm, the middle to second half of the week is mired with low rain chances and highs in the 50s and 40s.
