Illinois women rout Rutgers 81-55 in Big Ten Tournament

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Makira Cook scored 24 points, Genesis Bryant added 21 and Illinois thumped Rutgers 81-55 in the second round of the Big Ten Conference Tournament. Bryant made 8 of 11 shots with three 3-pointers for the sixth-seeded Fighting Illini (22-8). She also had five rebounds and five assists. Cook sank 10 of 13 shots, including 4 of 6 from beyond the arc, adding five assists. Adalia McKenzie scored 12 points. Freshman Kaylene Smikle scored 22 points to lead the No. 11 seed Scarlet Knights (12-20). Chyna Cornwell scored 14. Both players had five rebounds
