KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine’s leader is giving qualified support for China’s new involvement in trying to resolve the war in his country. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Beijing’s interest isn’t a bad thing and could be useful in isolating Russia. He says the question is what actions follow China’s words. Zelenskyy spoke at a news conference on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. China called for a cease-fire and peace talks between Ukraine and Russia in a vaguely worded proposal Friday. Analysts said it was unlikely to deliver results. Zelenskyy says his main goal is to keep China from arming Russia. He said he’d like to meet with China’s leader.
