Tracking a frigid Friday morning before a warmer weekend
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and breezy with lows falling into the upper teens to around 20. Wind chill near 10 degrees early in the morning.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with increasing clouds during the day. Highs reach the upper 30s to around 40, and there could be some light precipitation that could fall as spotty showers or wet snow before midnight. No impacts are expected.
EXTENDED: Lows tonight fall into the upper teens to around 20 with a wind chill near 10 degrees by daybreak. Friday is chilly as highs only reach around 40 with a chance for a few showers or wet snowflakes toward late afternoon/early evening through about midnight. No impacts are expected. Saturday is warmer as temperatures climb back into the low 50s, but a warm front lifting through on Sunday will send us to about 60 by late afternoon with showers arriving late in the day. As a cold front approaches Sunday night, thunderstorms will be possible overnight, but the severe threat will diminish as storms exit east out of Kansas into Missouri after midnight. We'll lose instability overnight, so at this point the severe threat looks low for Mid-Missouri into Monday morning. Rain exits likely by midday on Monday, leaving us with gusty winds and temperatures near 60. We'll end up with about 1-1.5" of rain. Tuesday and Wednesday look dry and mild with highs hovering near 60-65 degrees, with another system moving in by the end of the week that could bring cooler air and a rain/snow mix.
