RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes will host the Washington Capitals in Saturday’s night’s Stadium Series outdoor game. It will take place in the football stadium that typically hosts college football games for North Carolina State. It marks another example of the NHL holding one of its marquee outdoor events in a so-called “nontraditional” market within its southern footprint. That included Nashville last year. NHL chief content officer Steve Mayer says “the buzz is really out there” in Raleigh for Saturday. The game was delayed two years due to COVID-19 attendance restrictions. It is set to draw a sellout crowd of roughly 57,000.
