Column: Bringing together the best should include the rest

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tiger Woods is back on the PGA Tour and he’s wearing several hats. He’s a player at Riviera this week. He’s a tournament host. He’s also a big voice in another player meeting as the tour tries to create a model that brings together the best players. AP Golf Writer Doug Ferguson says the tour would do well not to forget the rest. Woods should know that better than anyone. Some of his most memorable battles came against the likes of Bob May, Grant Waite and Rocco Mediate. If the tour creates small fields, it should make sure everyone at least gets a tee time.
